“Home Front”-Kristin Hannah

This book left me with so many emotions. Kristin Hannah is one of my new favorite authors. I love the way she writes. She had me hooked at the beginning of this one. The way she wrote in details about the characters, it felt like you knew them personally. I had so many emotions throughout this book. I was angry at certain times. Then at other times, I was crying. The ending of this book will be leaving you with tears in your eyes.

This book is about a military family. Jolene gets the news one day that she is getting deployed to Iraq. Her husband, Michael, is not supportive of her career. Jo’s main support is her best friend, Tami, who is literally her wing woman. Jo and Tami have a rough time in Iraq while their families are trying to learn how to do everyday things without them. Michael has been picking his career over his family for years. He has to decide if going to the courtroom is more important than his two girls and his wife. Of course, there is a happy ending if you can get through the sadness.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

“Two By Two”-Nicholas Sparks

I have never been one for romantic and sappy books.  However, lately Nicholas Sparks’s writing has me in my feelings. Maybe it is because I have gotten married and had a baby within a year. I finally got the on the Nicholas Sparks fan train. There has been a couple of his books lately that I couldn’t start or finish.  It has nothing to do with his writing. I just didn’t like the plot of the stories.  The story has to grab my attention quick for me to finish or like the book. “Two By Two” got my attention very quickly! This book I listened to thanks to my local library. I couldn’t stop listening. The way he writes, you can just feel all the emotions he has the characters going through. It is amazing how he does that.

At the beginning of this book you think that Russell Green has the perfect life.  Then all of a sudden he lost his job. Russell’s wife, Vivian, who was a stay at home mom decides it is her turn to get a job.  The way he writes about Vivian… you end up not liking her at all. Well, her job leads to their marriage ending quickly. He learns how to start a business and raise a daughter while his life is spiraling out of control.  It seems like he has hit rock bottom, but then something from his past comes back into his life. Is it for the best? The ending of course is a happy ending.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

I will be reading more Nicholas Sparks books.  What are you guys favorites?

”Something In The Water”-Catherine Steadman

I will be honest.  I wasn’t sure about this book at the beginning.  It slowly grew on me. I listened to this one and was bored listening to it at beginning.  I couldn’t wait to figure out what this book was about. I do like the title though.  I saw the title and automatically just wanted to know what was in the water! Once I found out what was in the water I wanted to know more and more. The details in the writing are well written.
The recap of this story is that there is something in the water, duh!  It is hard to do a recap with this one without giving out spoilers!  A young couple on their honeymoon found the mystery in the water while they were exploring Bora Bora. This couple learned quickly in their marriage how far the other would go for money.  Do they get away with it or do people end up dead? I just know I would do one major thing different if I was in that position. I WOULD HAVE CALLED THE COPS. Erin and Mark of course don’t and just think about the money. How would you have handle these conflicts differently?
I still gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads even though I didn’t like the beginning. Steadman got me with the ending.

”An Anonymous Girl”-Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

Let me just start this by saying how much I love these two authors.  Did anyone else read their other book “The Wife Between Us”? I listened to this one (thanks to the library).  I had questions during the whole book.  My biggest complaint about this book was that the beginning was a little slow.  I know it had to build the main character’s (Jessica) story. Then all of a sudden BAM with the action.  During the whole book there were little details that you had to pick up to realize what was going to happen.  Hendricks and Pekkanen did a good job leading you to one thought about the ending and then changing it to another.  I wished I would have read it instead of listening to it.  I will have to go back and actually read it to pick up on those details.

It all started with a girl just trying to make some money.  While Jessica is doing her makeup job she finds out about a study where she can make some cash.  That is when it all goes downhill for Jessica.  You think this therapist is a good person and that this is just some normal study.  IT ISN’T NORMAL.  Dr. Shields is just pain crazy.  Jessica makes some questionable choices just for money.  Of course, these choices end up coming back and hurting her.  How far does she go to protect her family?  How does she get away from Dr. Shields and go back to a normal life?

Well I guess you will just have to read it and find out!

On Goodreads I gave this book 5 stars!
